Pro Tools در بسیاری از پروژه های ساخت موسیقی فیلم استفاده می شود، برای نمونه می توان به موسیقی فیلم آواتار اشاره کرد که با استفاده از پروتولز HD ضبط و ساخته شد. از ویژگی های این نرم افزار می توان به پشتیبانی از پلاگین های جدید با فرمت AAX، امکان تطبیق فرکانس های دیستورت شده بسیار آسان و پرسرعت، ذخیره سازی فرمت های مختلف صوتی با نام های متفاوت در یک پروژه، اعمال ضبط و مسترینگ 32 بیت، بازخوانی اطلاعات از روی هارد دیسک با سرعت چهار برابر، خروجی مستقیم برای سایت های به اشتراک گذارنده موسیقی Soundcloud و ... اشاره نمود.
