Description
SIMATIC ProTool/Lite + ServicePack is software from Siemens that provides support to their line of SIMATIC automation systems. There are several versions of the ProTool software, each one depending on the level of skill, as well as the requirements, of the user.
The SIMATIC ProTool/Lite + ServicePack version was specifically developed to enable users to configure what are known as OPs, or Operator Panels. The software is compatible with Windows operating systems. The configuration tasks/commands can be launched through the mouse or keyboard.
To configure the OPs, the user will create screens and messages, and then link these to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The software, in other words, enables the user to control processes or tasks that are to be performed by the PLC.
Visuals of the PLC processes are created through the screens, with texts and variables; where texts provide information about the components displayed on the screen, and the variables provide the operator with the values currently being utilized by the PLC. The software provides the user with an object editor, specific to each object created by the user. This allows for customized editing for each object, i.e. text or variable.
By default, the software will install in English. However, before installation, the user will be asked in what language they wish to install the software. If none is chosen, the software will either install in English, or in the default language of the Windows OS installed on the computer.
