Description
We read with great interest the article by Yang et al. which investigated the associations between tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) polymorphisms and breast cancer using a meta-analysis. The results suggested that there was no significant association between either TNF-a-308, -238, -857, - 863, -1031, or -1210 polymorphism and breast cancer risk overall, whereas an inverse association was observed between -308 polymorphism and breast cancer risk in Caucasians. The conclusions were similar with two recent metaanalyses performed by Shen et al. [2] and Fang et al. However, there were several methodological issues which should be noted in the meta-analysis by Yang et al.
