Description
A 6-month-old female lamb with a history of nonpainful swelling on the tail fat was referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Shiraz University. Preliminary treatment involved incision and lavage of the swollen area. Digital examination and retrograde contrast radiography showed a fistula at the distal part of the rectum towards the tail fat, which caused faecal collection and gradual degeneration of fatty tissue in the tail. Suturing of the fistula through the cavity after meticulous lavage and debridement was performed. The cavity was left open. Postoperative management included monitoring the operative site and anti-parasitic drug.
