Description

Patients with complaints of skinny legs were treated with implants. Most reports on calf augmentation were about subfascial implantation. In the study, they were placed into the submuscular region in contrast to the subfascial plane. Thirty-two patients were treated. Effective augmentation of the calves was achieved without any significant complications. The patients were followed up for at least 6-months to 5-years. No signs of capsular contractures were observed. The increase of calf diameter at its widest point was between 4 and 7 cm. The implants could not be felt and did not appear different from the normal consistency of the rest of the calf. More acceptable results were observed by this approach because the contour of the calf is not achieved by the implant but by the muscles themselves
