It is a common belief that clinical vitamin or mineral deficiencies are rare in Western countries because of the low-cost and unlimited diversity of food supply. However, many people consume food that is either unhealthy or of poor nutritional value, which lacks proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. In this article, we reviewed the literature and highlighted the vitamin deficiencies in obese patients before bariatric surgery.
