Description
Systemic-onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SoJIA) is a multisystem disease characterized by high fever, rash, arthritis, serositis, splenomegaly, and laboratory evidence of systemic inflammation. Although routine echocardiography reveals pericardial effusion in B40% of children [1], clinical pericarditis is rare. In this setting, the outcome of pericarditis is usually favorable, and only ten cases of tamponade have been reported in children [2, 5, 6].
