Description
A 3-month-old male patient was born at 34 weeks’ gestation weighing 1.3 kg with an antenatal diagnosis of severe mitral stenosis, hypoplasia of the left ventricle, juxtaposition of the left atrial appendages, aorta arising anteriorly from the right ventricle, and pulmonary atresia. Following initial palliation with atrial septostomy, he underwent hybrid stenting of the ductus arteriosus. Three days after the stent placement, progressive stenosis of the pulmonary end of the ductus led to a reduction in oxygen saturations and he underwent placement of a 3.5-mm modified right Blalock–Taussig (BT) shunt and partial ligation of the stented patent ductus arteriosus.
