Description

User management in Windows NT, including Windows 2000, is usually a
one-by-one operation: add a user, modify a user, delete a user, etc.
But what if you need to add several hundred, or even thousands of
user accounts ? What if you need to modify a single property on many
user accounts on thousands of different computers ?

User Commander was designed for mass user management in mind. By
taking input from a simple text file, User Commander can:

* Import user account information
* Modify and delete user account information, including 18
specialized Terminal Server user settings and configuration
fields.
* Import user local and global group memberships
* Copy user and group information; copied users can optionally
retain their current password. See the Copying Passwords
section below for more information and restrictions.
* Automatically create user home directory, home directory
shares, and set security based on defined templates.

Moreover, these operations can be performed on multiple computers at
the same time, so advanced operations such as changing local account,
group memberships, and passwords on multiple computers can be
performed with ease.

Advanced Home Directory Options

User Commander's home directory options allow full control over the
creation of the home directory, home directory share, and both NTFS
and share-level security. Pre-defined access levels, as well as
individual security levels, can be configured for any user or group
account.

User Commander Operation

User Commander takes its input from a simple delimited text file (the
delimiter is user-defined). Moreover, the order and number of fields
in the text file is completely configurable. For example, if only
the logon script needs to be modified for 1000 user accounts, only
the user name and new logon script name needs to be specified in the
input file.

Copying Passwords

User Commander can copy passwords directly from one Windows NT user
account to another Windows NT system. However, due to the technique
used, this feature is only supported when Windows NT is being used as
both the source and destination system. If using Windows 2000,
Windows XP, or Windows 2003, use our free CopyPwd utility to copy the
passwords easily from any user account to another. CopyPwd is both
free and full source code is provided.
