Description
The reference point is a location on the PCB that has the coordinates (0,0). All measurements on the board are made relative to this point. The reference point can be visually identified on a board by the reference point icon, which looks like a set of crosshairs (figure 1).
Figure 1 - Reference Point Crosshairs
It is may be desirable to change this point, so that components can be placed in exact locations relative to each other. Setting the reference point can be accomplished by choosing Options>>Set Reference Point from the main menu.
For this task, and other potentially repetitive commands, Ultiboard allows users to customize the interface by adding any command to any toolbar; or alternatively by assigning a short-cut keyboard sequence to the command. This can be accomplished by selecting Options>>Customize User Interface. The Set Reference Point Position command is located under the Options category.
To place a command onto an existing toolbar, simply drag that command to the desired toolbar, by clicking and holding the mouse button on it. Through the Toolbars tab of the Customize dialog box, users can also create a custom toolbar to display their most commonly used commands.
