Description
Planning Business Modeler is the primary interface for creating and managing business models, which are the basic units of data storage in Planning Server, and their associated model metadata. The models that are created by using Planning Business Modeler integrate disparate but relevant information about a company into a tangible view that you can use to accurately measure performance, plan, budget, and forecast. By using these Planning Server models and predefined and user-defined business dimensions, you can build powerful applications that perform complex planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidating. You can manage security for these operations as well.
Planning Business Modeler runs locally on each user's computer, but all the models and schemas are based on Planning Server. PerformancePoint Planning application business objects are created or updated when a model or model site is saved. When the model site is deployed, the model structure, rules, and security are used to create or update the SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services cubes.
